Meet Your New Friends Ambassador: Sue Morley

From Facebook Fan of the Year to the Face of Friends at Potters

If you’ve visited Potters at Hopton-on-Sea in the last couple of years, chances are you’ve met Sue Morley pulling a pint or serving coffees to your table with a cheerful smile. And if you haven’t yet, you soon will. Because Sue is your brand-new Friends Ambassador, and it’s a role that couldn’t be better suited.

Originally from Enfield, Sue moved to Lowestoft at the age of 10, but we joke that her London accent has stubbornly stayed put. Her journey with Potters began around a decade ago, as a guest on star-studded breaks featuring the likes of Jason Donovan, Peter Andre, and Daniel O’Donnell. “I absolutely loved every minute of it,” she beams.

That love for Potters eventually spilled into the online world too. Sue became a regular in the Facebook community, sharing memories, advice from a guest perspective, and countdowns to her next break. And it was her first Social Media Weekend that changed everything.

“My first full weekend was for that weekend,” she recalls. “Oh my gosh, it blew me away. I didn’t think Potters could get any better. But the team was amazing. I knew then I wanted to work here. I started applying for every job going!”

Her persistence paid off, joining the Bars Team two years ago—though not before winning Facebook Fan of the Year, which came with a free holiday.

“Winning that blew me away, it was amazing. I won it as a guest, but my free holiday came after I’d joined the team. I still had a great time. In fact, my perspective of Potters since I started working here has gotten better. I didn’t think it could. As a guest, it’s outstanding, but as a member of the team you’re part of the magic. You’re making peoples’ holidays.”

Sue’s natural warmth, her passion for Potters, and her ability to connect with guests made her the obvious choice for a new role when the opportunity of Friends Ambassador for Potters Resorts’ Friends Club came up.

“I think they asked me because I just genuinely love Potters, and I’m a people person,” she says with a smile. “I was already chatting to guests about the Friends Club, even before this role existed!”

Spend five minutes in Sue’s company and it’s clear she lives and breathes Potters. She’s even picked up a Happiness Award, proudly worn on her uniform alongside a growing number of badges.

“If you go on holiday abroad, people don’t know you from Adam,” she says. “Here, it’s like a family. You’re recognised, welcomed, remembered. The guests love that—and so do I.”

Her 15-year old daughter, funnily enough, appears to be following in her footsteps having spent her work experience in the restaurant at Hopton-on-Sea over the summer.

“She definitely wants to work with food,” Sue says proudly. “Maybe it runs in the family. I’ve always worked in food—in bakers, and chip shops. I’d never even pulled a pint until I started on the Bars Team at Potters!”

When she’s not chatting to guests or adding more badges to her collection, Sue is a self-proclaimed Jason Donovan superfan. In fact, she met him for the first time on her first trip to Potters—a moment she’ll never forget.

“I’ve seen him here, in the West End, and in The Rocky Horror Show in Norwich,” she says. “I even saw him in Goldilocks in Birmingham!”
