In 2025, we launched ‘Every Second Counts’ — a new initiative raising money for two volunteer community first response charities: NARS and BASICS Essex.
The Potters Friends Foundation—a community interest company founded in memory of Brian Potter MBE in 2014—is aiming to raise £50,000 for the emergency life-saving equipment used by the voluntary heroes on our roads across Norfolk and Essex.

And in January, we launched a huge challenge to the Potters community—one which you have grabbed with both hands!
Every Step Counts!
Combined, the counties of Essex and Norfolk span approximately 3,500sq miles. And we’re asking our Potters community to cover that same distance this winter, raising awareness of these amazing charities.
As it stands, you’ve already reached a whopping 700 miles! That’s 20% of our target!
There’s still a long way to go, so whether you’re running, walking, jogging, swimming, rowing (or whatever you do to get your exercise) this winter, we want to hear from you!
So please keep adding your efforts using this easy-to-use form. And if you can add a selfie or super-snappy video clip too, we’d love to see them!
Why are we doing this?
Every step, metre, or mile you cover helps raise awareness of these two amazing causes. And when the challenge is complete, we’ll present a cheque to both NARS and BASICS Essex for the total distance covered by you!
Better yet, we’ll pick a lucky winner from all the entries who’ll WIN A WEEKEND BREAK FOR TWO AT POTTERS RESORTS HOPTON-ON-SEA OR FIVE LAKES!
Good luck!
