A fresh season of plant sales returns to Potters Resorts Hopton-on-Sea
Perched along the beautiful Norfolk coastline, the gardens at Potters Resorts Hopton-on-Sea are a familiar and much-loved part of every guest’s stay. From vibrant flowerbeds bursting with colour to carefully sculpted hedges and ever-changing seasonal displays, the grounds are more than just a backdrop — they’re part of the experience.
And with spring in full flow, one of the resort’s most charming traditions returns: the Gardens Team’s weekly Plant Sale on Friday mornings.
Grown with Care, on Resort
Every plant you’ll find on sale has been lovingly propagated and grown on the resort. Each marigold, herb, and plant has been nurtured from seed or cutting by the very team who care for the gardens you stroll through each day on your break.
It’s a true labour of love, and one that makes taking a plant home feel that little bit more special. You’re not just picking up something pretty for your windowsill or garden — you’re taking home a living reminder of your time at Potters.
A Hidden Haven
We were invited to step behind the scenes and discover where the magic really happens. Tucked quietly away from the main guest areas, the Garden Team’s working plot is the kind of place you’d never know existed unless you were shown.
Yet once you step inside, it reveals itself as a peaceful haven just steps away from the buzz of the resort. Rows of seedlings, neatly organised pots, and the gentle hum of dedicated work create an atmosphere that feels both productive and calming.
And the team were also hard at work installing a brand-new polytunnel — an exciting addition that will help them nurture even more plants throughout the season. Not only does it provide protection from the unpredictable coastal weather, but it also allows for a longer growing period and a wider variety of plants to flourish.
In short, it means better cared-for greenery across the resort… and more choice at the plant sale!

The plant sale itself has become something of a weekly ritual during the spring and early summer months. Guests gather not only to browse the colourful selection, but also to chat with the Gardens Team, swap gardening tips, and share stories.
“It’s always nice to see familiar faces coming back year after year, and new guests stopping by for a chat,” says Head Gardener, Vinnie. “And with all proceeds going to a good cause, it’s all part of what makes it special.”
In 2025, the team raised over £2,000 for the Potters Friends Foundation to support local charities. In 2026, they hope to raise even more, with every purchase supporting something truly meaningful.

For many guests, the plant sale has become a highlight of Midweek Breaks over the sunny seasons. It’s a chance to take a small, living piece of Potters to nurture, and keep those holiday memories growing long after they’ve returned home.
